• ​Catherine "Kate" Hernandez was born April 15, 1957 in Jackson Heights, NY. 

• Kate attended Molloy College in Rockville Centre, NY, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree in 1978.

• Kate was quite the mover! She married a "Coastie". During her lifetime, she experienced some pretty nice waterfront destinations including Eatons Neck, NY, Keywest, FL, Lake Tahoe, CA, Southport, NC, and Corpus Christi, TX.

• She had three beautiful, funny, quirky, and kind girls, Meridith (1980), Mariel (1984), and Brieana (1987).

• Favorite Food: Twizzlers! (But only the red ones)

• Although not musically inclined, she was quite fond of marching bands. She loved the Bluff Band and once mentioned her favorite song was the Hey Song. She said: "It's so perky! The Hey Song just leaves you in a good mood." 

• Kate particularly enjoyed working with teen moms. In the mid-90's there was not much support, funding, and education in Nueces County for teen moms. Kate took it upon herself to reach out to all teen moms at Flour Bluff I.S.D. and offer  guidance. Kate wanted to make sure that young mom's never felt alone.
